Java Fern Narrow Leaf – Microsorum pteropus

Java Fern is one of the most recommended beginner aquarium plants. While they’re not as bulletproof as some may claim, frequent water changes and potassium supplementation go a long way to keeping these ferns green and growing. Java ferns are also very tolerant of low lighting conditions, though they do grow slowly. These plants grow best attached to rock or driftwood. The rhizome that sprouts the leaves must be left somewhat exposed or the plant will slowly melt away. This narrow leaved form is especially desirable for aquascaping.
