Apistogramma nijsseni comes from the Loreto region of Peru. These waters can get as acidic as a 4.0 pH, but a range of 5-7 should be sufficient for breeding. This species tends to spawn best in pairs. This pair has broken off from the group and shows all signs of spawning soon.
